Pearlware saucer with blue transfer print design

This saucer has a bucolic scene of a tavern in the woods with three men in the foreground and one in the background. The border has three types of flowers intertwined with leaves. A saucer with this same scene, but a different border (roses with leaves) was found at Old Brownsville, Illinois (1816-1843). A sherd of this pattern was found at the Branscum site, an early nineteenth century farmstead in St. Clair County, Illinois (southwestern Illinois).
