Hand-painted pearlware handleless tea cup (blue, green and brown)

This pearlware tea cup has a delicate floral hand-painted decoration. There is a very thin blue line around the very top of the rim. One sprig of the blue flower motif is inside the cup bottom, revealed only after tea has been consumed. Although tea cups with handles were introduced around 1750, handleless cups remained popular into the nineteenth century.
