Decorated metal buttons


These are cuprous buttons with die-stamped designs. We know this because there is a split anvil seam on the backs of the buttons. Examples from Davidsonville with designs include (from left to right) basket weave, floral, and a script A design on an artillery button from the War of 1812 period. This type of button is found in archeological contexts dating from 1812 to 1820.
