Glass bead

This light cherry rose bead fragment is an example of a wire-wound bead. This means that it was made from a glass cane heated over an oil lamp or with a torch, pulled and shaped around an iron or copper wire until the desired shape was created. This bead was reheated and polished to enhance its appearance.
